Midsummer 8k
The Midsummer 8k is a road running event held in Kelowna, British Columbia, set along the shoreline of Lake Okanagan. The event features a flat and fast certified course designed for accurate distance measurement. It serves as a key fixture in the Kelowna running community and is the penultimate race of the 2026 Interior Running Association (IRA) Road Race Series.
The following distances are available:
- 8 km (main certified road race)
- 200 m (loop for young children)
- 700 m (longer loop for children)
Participants benefit from chip timing for accurate results. On-course support includes water and electrolyte stations located at the 2.5 km and 5.5 km marks. The race starts and finishes at Boyce-Gyro Park, where post-race refreshments are provided to the runners.
Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in each age group, with cash prizes available for the overall top three male and female runners. All finishers receive medals upon completion. Following the primary event, a free Kids Fun Run is organized by UBCO Cross Country volunteers with two different loop options. Registration remains open until July 11th, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
