Midsummer 8K
The Midsummer 8K is an annual road race held along the shoreline of Lake Okanagan in Kelowna, BC. The course is described as flat, fast and fully certified for accurate distance measurement. The event has a long history in the local running community, with over 30 years of editions, and in 2025 served as the BC Athletics Road Running Championship 8K and as a World Athletics ranking event.
Race services include chip timing, water and electrolyte stations at 2.5 km and 5.5 km, post-race refreshments, and medals for all finishers. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers, and awards are given to the top three male and female runners in each age group. There are also door prizes and a collection of vendors and sponsors at the start/finish area.
A free Kids' Race, organized by UBCO Cross Country volunteers, follows the main event. Two kids distances are offered: a short loop of about 200 m and a longer loop of about 700 m.
