Midlands Ultra Triathlon 2027 : Midmar Dam, Howick
The Midlands Ultra Triathlon is a multisport event held at Midmar Dam in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. The programme offers three race formats over swim, cycle and run courses set around the dam and surrounding countryside. The venue provides a controlled environment for open water swimming, with on-course support for cycling and running.
Available entry categories and distances include:
- Ultra Race (Individual or 3-person relay): Swim 1.6 km, Cycle 50 km, Run 12 km
- AquaBike Individual: Swim 1.6 km and Cycle 50 km
- Challenge Race (Individual or 3-person relay): Swim 800 m, Cycle 25 km, Run 6 km
Entries include a goodie bag and a branded swim cap. Pre-entries receive race branded apparel in the goodie bag; late entries receive a goodie bag without apparel. All competitors receive a race number, timing chip and split race times. Event safety includes swim lifeguards, run marshals, medical assistance and a safety officer, with water tables on the bike and run courses. Finishers receive an event medal and finish line refreshments.
Prize purses are listed for overall winners: R15 000 for the Ultra Race and R10 000 in prizes for Challenge winners plus lucky draw prizes.
