Midgley Moor : event overview
Midgley Moor is a fell race scheduled for 15 February 2026 in the South/West Pennines. The course is approximately 5 miles (8 km) with about 381 m (1,250 ft) of ascent. The venue is Booth Cricket Club, Booth, Halifax (grid ref SE040271). The route is only partially flagged and requires some navigation across paths and heather moorland. Checkpoints are positioned around Midgley Moor and the start and finish are opposite Dean House Farm.
Entry, kit and logistics
Pre-entry and entry on the day are available. Fees are £5.00 for FRA members and £7.50 for non-members. Entry on the day may be accepted up to the race limit of 100. Minimum age is 16; there are no junior races. Teams are allowed in groups of three.
The race is licensed by the FRA under UKA rules and is run as a non-GPS navigational event. GPS devices may be used to record a route but not to aid navigation; using GPS for navigation requires declaring as non-competitive. FRA mandatory minimum kit is required and checked before numbers are issued. Required items include full waterproof body cover with taped seams and an attached hood, a hat (not a buff), gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food.
Parking at the venue is very limited and may be up to 1 km away. Car sharing is requested. Bus 574 stops outside the club but does not run early enough on Sundays for the race. Regular trains serve Halifax, Sowerby Bridge and Mytholmroyd. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
