Event
The Midgley Moor Fell Race is held at Booth Cricket Club, Booth, Halifax (Grid Ref: SE040271). The course is about 5 miles (8.04 km) with 1250 ft (381 m) of climb. The route runs across paths and heather moorland and includes route choices that require navigation. The route will only be partially flagged and some navigation will be required.
Entry, route and kit
The event is licensed by the FRA under UKA rules. Entry options include pre-entry and entry on the day, with fees of £5.00 for FRA members and £7.50 for non-members. Entry on the day may be available up to the race limit of 100. Minimum age is 16.
GPS devices may be used to record a route and display distance but cannot be used to aid navigation; using GPS navigation to reach safety requires declaring as a non-competitive participant at the finish. FRA mandatory minimum kit is required and includes waterproof full body cover (taped seams and attached hood), hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food. A kit check takes place before race number allocation. Parking is very limited and may be up to 1 km away; participants are asked not to park on Dean House Lane to keep access clear for buses and emergency vehicles. Checkpoints are specified on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
