Midgley Moor Fell Race

Midgley Moor is a short fell race held from Booth Cricket Club, Booth, Halifax, HX2 6TW (Grid Ref SE 04066 27252). The course is approximately 5 miles (8.04 km) with about 1250 ft (381 m) of ascent. The route goes up and around Midgley Moor and offers room for creative line choices for those familiar with the terrain.

Travel options include regular trains to Halifax, Sowerby Bridge and Mytholmroyd, and a cycle approach via Route 66 from Mytholmroyd to Luddenden Foot, then up Luddenden Lane and New Road to Dean House Lane and the race start. Parking at Booth Cricket Club is very limited, and car sharing is encouraged. A route map is provided by the organisers.

Entry is run through SiEntries, with fees listed as FRA members £5.00 and non-members £7.50; the same fees apply for entry on the day. Entry on the day may be available for up to 100 places. The minimum age for competitors is 16 years.

The race is licensed by the Fell Runners Association under UKA rules and is designated a non-GPS race. FRA mandatory kit is compulsory and subject to a full kit check before race number allocation; required items include waterproof full body cover with taped seams and attached hood, hat (not a buff), gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food. Without the correct kit competitors will not be allowed to race.

Checkpoints include Crow Hill, Sheep Stones Trig Point, Dimmin Dale Edge, Wood Lane stile, Midgley Moor Wall Corner and Brown Hill stile, with the start and finish opposite Dean House Farm. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
