Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend
The Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend is a three-day multi-terrain running event held over the May Bank Holiday weekend. Celebrating its 15th year in 2026, the event takes place across three different locations in West Sussex: East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, and Burgess Hill. The courses are described as undulating and pass through parkland and woodland areas.
Participants can choose to enter individual races or take on the full marathon distance by completing all three days of competition. The weekend structure consists of:
- 10 Mile race in East Grinstead on the first day.
- 10 Mile race in Haywards Heath on the second day.
- 10k race in Burgess Hill on the third day.
In addition to the main distances, the event offers a Mid Sussex Mile, which is a chip-timed race for participants aged 7 and older. A family-friendly Fun Run is also available for all ages, where fancy dress is permitted. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual marathon option allows runners to complete the distance over several excursions.
The event features bespoke medals for finishers, with specific medals for the Mile and Fun Run participants. Runners who complete the full three-day marathon receive a commemorative T-shirt. Trophies and prizes are awarded for the competitive categories. Facilities at the various locations include the East Grinstead Rugby Club and Victoria Park in Haywards Heath neighborhood, with the latter being located near the local train station.
