Event Details

The Michn 5K & 1-mile run/walk is a fundraiser event. It takes place in Lansing, Michigan, at the Michigan State Capitol Complex on October 13, 2026. The event offers two distances: a 5k Run/Walk and a 1-mile Run/Walk.

Course

The course is entirely on the Capitol complex grounds. It uses concrete sidewalks and paved paths, and does not go onto city streets. The 5k is a 3-loop course on this terrain.

Registration & Pricing

Registration is handled online. There is age-based pricing that increases as the event date approaches. Children under 5 can participate for free, but do not receive a t-shirt.

Ages 5-12: $10 until September 22, $15 from September 23-30, $20 from October 1-13.
Ages 13-18: $20 until September 22, $25 from September 23-30, $30 from October 1-13.
Ages 19+: $35 until September 22, $40 from September 23-30, $45 from October 1-13.

Included Features

A race t-shirt is included with registrations completed by September 30. Registrations after that date do not include a t-shirt. Both adult and youth sizes are available. The event is professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation, with live results during the event and results sent via text message upon finishing.

Awards

For the 5k, awards are given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in several age categories for both males and females. There are also Grand Master (over 50) and Senior Master (over 60) awards. For the 1-mile event, top male and female awards are given for age groups 5-10 and 11-14. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
