MiCHN 5K & 1.5 Mile Run/Walk
This event is a fundraiser held as part of Homeschool Day At The Dome 2026 at the Michigan State Capitol Complex in Lansing on October 13, 2026. The course uses concrete sidewalks and paved paths entirely within the Capitol complex; the 5K (3.1 miles) is a two-loop course and the 1.5 mile route follows the same complex without city streets.
All registration is online through RunSignup with age-based pricing and registration windows. Race t-shirts are included with registrations completed through September 30; registrations after that date do not include a t-shirt. Fee structure by age and date is as follows:
- Under 5: free, no t-shirt
- Ages 5–12: $10 until 9/22, $15 from 9/23 to 9/30, $20 from 10/1 to 10/13
- Ages 13–18: $20 until 9/22, $25 from 9/23 to 9/30, $30 from 10/1 to 10/13
- Ages 19 and over: $35 until 9/22, $40 from 9/23 to 9/30, $45 from 10/1 to 10/13
The 5K features awards for 1st through 3rd place in male and female age categories (5–10, 11–14, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40 and over), plus Grand Master awards for top male and female over 50 and Senior Master awards for top male and female over 60. The 1.5 mile awards recognize top male and female in ages 5–10 and 11–14.
Results are professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation, published live during the event, and texted to participants as they cross the finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
