Big Babies 5K
The Big Babies 5K is a charity 5K run/walk on September 13, 2026 in East Lansing at Conrad Hall. The event raises funds to help cover medical expenses for newborn large animals (foals, crias, calves, kids, and similar) treated at MSU’s Veterinary Medical Center and to support the training of students and residents who will become veterinarians and specialists working with these animals.
There are two event entries, both 3.1 Miles: the general 5k Run/Walk and a 5k Run/Walk for MSU students with ID. Registration opens April 1, 2026. Entry fees change over time: general entry is $30 until August 28 then $35 until September 12, MSU student entry is $25 until August 28 then $30 until September 12, onsite registration is $40 with no student discount. Family pricing is $80 for four people registering together until August 28 then $100. Kid pricing for ages 12 and under is $25 until August 28 then $30. T-shirts are guaranteed for entries received by the end of day August 28; remaining shirts are available afterward while supplies last.
Dogs may walk with their owners if leashed and are asked to start at the back of the group. Awards include overall male and female medals and first and second place medals by male and female age groups: 10 and under, 11-15, 16-20, 21-25, 26-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, and 71 and over.
Early packet pickup is Thursday September 10 and Friday September 11 at the Large Animal Clinic Office, 1145 Bogue Street, with packet pickup available on race day at the start area behind Conrad Hall. Participants may pick up packets for others by providing the other person’s last name. The race will be chip timed by the Michigan Running Foundation and results will be available live during the race and online. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
