Michigan Humane Tailgate Run 5K

The Michigan Humane Tailgate Run Walk Adopt takes place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood. The main activity is a 5K run/walk, with separate start waves for participants with and without dogs. There is also a 1-mile Mutt March walk.

The event starts and finishes at Roosevelt Park, near Michigan Central Station. The 5K route goes from Roosevelt Park through Southwest Detroit, includes Ralph C. Wilson Park, and returns via the Southwest Detroit Greenway.

The event also features a community festival with food trucks, a beer garden, live entertainment, and dog contests. A key component is the Meet Your Best Friend adoption event, where numerous dogs and other pets will be available for adoption.
