The event takes place in Corktown at Roosevelt Park and at Michigan Central Station in Detroit. The 5K course goes from Roosevelt Park through Southwest Detroit, passes Ralph C. Wilson Park, and returns to Michigan Central Station on the Southwest Detroit Greenway. Dogs may run in the registered dog entry for the 5K.

The program includes the 1K Mutt March fundraising walk and the Mike Morse Law Firm Meet Your Best Friend adoption event with nearly 100 animals available for adoption. On-site activities listed for the event include field games and contests for dogs, food trucks, a beer garden, and live music. Registration is offered in adult, youth, and adult-with-dog categories; published entry fees specify different rates for those categories for both the 5K and 1K events.
