Corktown Races
Corktown Races is a community running event produced by the Fraternal Order of United Irishmen and hosted by the Detroit Downtown Runners. The event includes multiple short-distance races and is associated with local parade activities. Race proceeds benefit the St. Patrick Senior Center.
The event program lists these distances:
- Kids quarter mile
- Emerald Mile
- Corktown 5KM
Course maps are provided for the 5K, the one mile and kids courses, and for Roosevelt Park. The event also coincides with a Saint Patrick's Parade.
The St. Patrick Senior Center began operations in 1973 to serve older adults in Detroit. It was incorporated in 1983 as a non-denominational, non-profit organization serving people aged 60 and over. The center is described as the only remaining community based health clinic for seniors in the city. Services and offerings include nutritious meals seven days a week, social activities such as classes and trips, transportation assistance, and community health services for more than 2,000 area residents.
The event lists a presenting sponsor, Alumnifi, and several official sponsors. Official merchandise is available through an event store. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
