The Detroit Auto Show 5K takes place on January 17, 2026 in Detroit, Michigan. The event is organized by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the Detroit Auto Show and the Friends of the Outdoor Adventure Center. The course is a 5K along the Detroit Riverfront, with the start and finish located outside the doors of the Detroit Auto Show. This year’s route uses Ralph C Wilson Centennial Park and the Southwest Greenway. All proceeds will support updates to exhibits at the Outdoor Adventure Center.
Registration and logistics
The listed entry fee is $43. Early packet pick up is on Friday, January 16 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Outdoor Adventure Center. Race day packet pick up is available at Huntington Place one hour before the race start time. Discounted public Detroit Auto Show tickets are available through the 5K at a 25% discount: adult tickets $15 ($20 at the door), senior tickets $9 ($12 at the door), and kid tickets $7.50 ($10 at the door). Auto Show ticket sales for the event end on January 10 to allow time for pick up; show ticket prices increase after December 1. Awards will be given to the top three overall finishers and the top three finishers in each age category: 14 and under; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80 and up.
