About the race
The Detroit Auto Show 5K is a running event held on January 16, 2027 at Huntington Place in Detroit. The course runs along the Detroit Riverfront and starts and finishes outside the doors of the Detroit Auto Show. The distance is 3.1 Miles.
Organizers include the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the Detroit Auto Show and the Friends of the Outdoor Adventure Center. All proceeds will support updates to the exhibits at the Outdoor Adventure Center.
Registration opens on June 25, 2026 and closes on November 30, 2026. The registration fee is $38.00. Discounted public tickets to the Detroit Auto Show are available through the event; tickets are discounted by 25 percent. Adult tickets are listed at $15 with a $20 price at the door, senior tickets at $9 with $12 at the door, and kid tickets at $7.50 with $10 at the door. Auto Show ticket sales end on January 9 and show ticket prices increase after December 1.
Packet pick up will be available the day before the event at the Outdoor Adventure Center and on race day at Huntington Place. Awards will be given to the top three overall finishers and to the top three finishers in each age category: 14 and under; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80 and up.
