Methodist Mountain Ultra

Methodist Mountain Ultra is a trail ultramarathon held on the Methodist Mountain trail system at the northern terminus of the Sangre De Cristo mountains near Salida, Colorado. The event will return in 2026 with an added longer distance and registration opening in March 2026. This is the third annual running of the race.

The courses are mostly single track and include notable elevation gain: approximately 5500' for the 50k and approximately 3000' for the 30k. Aid stations are placed along the routes; the 50k course uses six aid stations while the 30k uses three. Drop bags for 50k runners are staged at the Rainbow aid station, which is visited twice on that course.

Crew access is limited because most aid stations are remote; crew are allowed only at the Spartan aid station. Pacers are permitted for 50k participants starting at the Spartan aid station and continuing to the finish. Time limits apply: the 50k has a 10 hour course cutoff and the 30k has an 8 hour course cutoff. All finishers receive a finisher award and a short sleeve t-shirt. Cash prizes are awarded in the 50k for the top three male and female finishers.

The start and finish area is at South Ark, formerly Vandaveer Ranch Park, with parking inside the fenced area. Packet pickup is organized through a running store in Salida on the Friday before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
