Christmas Mountain Run
The Christmas Mountain Run in Salida offers two races held during Thanksgiving weekend and the town's Christmas Mountain lighting. The new 5 mile course begins and ends by Riverside Park in downtown Salida. The route uses city and county roads and concrete pedestrian paths and is described as scenic and mostly flat, with around 200 feet of elevation gain.

The 1 mile course remains the same and follows Sackett Avenue with a turnaround about 0.5 mile from the start. Leashed dogs and strollers are allowed in the one mile.
Registration for the 5 mile includes custom race socks, chip timing, a race sticker, post race snacks, and awards for top overall finishers plus the top three in each 10 year age group. Registration for the 1 mile includes chip timing, a finisher ribbon, and post race snacks. Packet pickup, post race drinks and snacks, and awards are held in Riverside Park.
The event aims to encourage health, fitness, fun, and community connection around the Thanksgiving holiday, to provide a competitive race in Chaffee County, and to raise funds for the Chaffee County Community Foundation. Prize money is offered to top finishers: top three M/F overall receive $150, $100, and $75, and the first place M/F masters receive $100. Registration opens on June 1.
