Event overview
Meteor Mile is an annual running event organised by Almost Athletes at Gloucestershire Airport, Staverton. The next edition is scheduled for Friday 28 August 2026. The event began in 2013, was paused for three years due to the Covid pandemic and subsequent groundwork, and was reinstated in 2023. Chip timing has been introduced to the race.
Course and awards
The route uses the airport surface, starting on a support road before moving onto the main runway and finishing adjacent to the terminal building. The course includes the following sections:
- 300 m on the support road
- 1 km-plus on the runway toward the terminal
- 200 m final approach to the finish
Every finisher receives a bespoke medal. Prizes are given to the first male and female adult and junior (U15) finishers. Almost Athletes also awards prizes to the first male and female club finishers. Prize giving takes place at the Aviator bar located at the airport terminal. Children are explicitly encouraged to take part, and the event emphasises a social and inclusive atmosphere. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
