Event overview
The Meteor Mile is an annual running event held at Gloucestershire Airport, Staverton. The event began in 2013, had a three-year hiatus because of the Covid pandemic and subsequent groundwork, and was reinstated in 2023. The next Meteor Mile will take place on Friday 28th August 2026. The event traditionally takes place on a Saturday evening at the beginning of September and is staged on the airport runway and adjacent support road.
Course and race details
The race uses the airport main runway and a section of support road, with runway lights used near sunset. Chip timing has been introduced.
Distances on the course include:
- 300 m along the support road
- 1 km-plus run along the runway towards the terminal
- 200 m final section to the finish adjacent to the terminal
