Meteor Mile - Gloucestershire Airport, Staverton
The Meteor Mile takes place on 28 Aug 2026 at Gloucestershire Airport, Staverton and holds EA licence 31412. The event features a measured, traffic-free one mile course run along the main runway while the airport is closed to take-offs and landings for the event.
The event is open to all athletes and families may attend. Entry fees are £12.50 for adults and £5.50 for under 15s; anyone under 11 must be accompanied by an adult. Advance entries close on Monday 24th August and on-the-day entries will not be permitted.
There is limited parking at the airport. Registration is landside, outside the terminal, from 6.15pm to 7.15pm; a race briefing is given afterwards once clearance to go airside is granted. Participants walk together to the start at the far end of the airport. The race begins on the access road to the main runway and finishes with a return towards the terminal via the runway itself.
Toilets are available at Race HQ but there are no changing or baggage facilities; participants are advised to leave belongings in their vehicles. Post-race refreshments and the prize-giving presentation take place at The Aviator bar.
Prizes are awarded to the first three senior male and female athletes (no senior age categories), the first junior U15 male and female, and the first Almost Athlete male and female. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
