Mental Health Matters 5K, Cumberland Center
Mental Health Matters 5K is a community race held at Greely High School in Cumberland Center, ME on May 2, 2027. The event includes a 5K course and is organized by the Active Minds/KyleCares Club at Greely High School in partnership with the KyleCares nonprofit.
The event's purpose is to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and support teen mental health. Proceeds and support from the event help expand programming that promotes mental health awareness and suicide prevention, encourages help-seeking behavior, provides resources and safe spaces for students, and supports school and community-wide mental health initiatives.
KyleCares has helped launch 74 chapters in four states (MA, ME, NH and RI), connects with more than 1,000 Active Minds chapters nationwide, and the network includes over 15,000 student advocates. At Greely High School, the student-led club has brought speakers and programming to students and staff, expanded outreach to younger grades, and encouraged open dialogue around mental health.
Registration opens July 22, 2026 and closes March 20, 2027. The registration fee is $25.00. Bib pick-up and same-day registration are available on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
