Mendip Muddle
Mendip Muddle is a 20 km multi terrain fell race held on Sunday 25 October 2026 with approximately 420 m of climb. The route crosses varied Mendip landscape including Roman lead mines, underground rivers, a nature reserve, open moorland, potholes, an ancient rabbit warren, an Iron Age fort, deciduous and conifer forest, and prehistoric tumuli.
Race headquarters are at the Charterhouse Centre, Charterhouse-on-Mendip, Blagdon, Bristol BS40 7XR. The event supports charitable causes and the nominated charity for the listed event is Avon Somerset Search and Rescue; previous charitable beneficiaries have included Weston Hospicecare.
Facilities on the course include drinks stations at about 5 km, 10 km and 15 km, and First Aid provision on the course and at the finish. At race HQ there are toilet facilities but no changing rooms; water will be available at the finish and runners are encouraged to bring a reusable drinks bottle. Car parking is limited and there are no current plans to offer refreshments.
The race is held under Fell Runners Association regulations as a category CL fell race. GPS enabled devices are not permitted and dogs are not allowed. Registration on the morning of the event is compulsory. Entries are priced at £18 with entry on the day at £20 and entries close at midnight on 24 October. Entries cannot be refunded except in case of event cancellation.
Prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers and to veteran categories MV40, FV40, MV50, FV50, MV60 and FV60 with one prize per winner. Each competitor receives a race memento.
