Minotaur SkyRace

Meet the Minotaur is a mountain running event held in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, and at Castle Mountain Resort. The competition serves as the host for the Canadian National Skyrunning Championships and the Youth Skyrunning North & Central American Championships. The courses are officially certified under the International Skyrunning Federation.

The event features several distinct race formats focused on significant elevation gain:

  • Minotaur VK: A Vertical Kilometer course covering 4 km with 970 m of elevation gain.
  • Minotaur SkyRace: A 33.5 km course with a total elevation gain of 2,900 m.
  • Mini-Taur 10 km: A 10.5 km race featuring 950 m of elevation gain.
  • Minotaur Trifecta: A combined category involving multiple races from the schedule.

The races take place in the rugged terrain of Crowsnest Pass, providing technical mountain running conditions. The event spans three days in late June, bringing together athletes for national championship titles and international youth competitions across various distances and vertical challenges.
