The Dark - Bellevue
This event is a loop race held inside the Bellevue Underground Mine (BUM) in Alberta, Canada.
The course is a mine shaft 250 metres long with a 1% grade, creating a 500-metre loop. It is approximately 4 metres wide for most of its length. The mine temperature is consistently between 0°C and 2°C year-round. A warming station with food will be at the mine entrance.
The race features timed formats where the goal is to complete as many laps as possible within the chosen duration:
- 24 hours
- 12 hours
- 6 hours
- 3 hours
The event is limited to 100 competitors. Each runner receives a custom snap-back hat. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Bellevue Underground Mine.
The 2026 edition will take place on October 31 and November 1, coinciding with Halloween. Family activities in the area during this time are mentioned, including trick-or-treating and a "Spooktacular" event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
