The Event

The Divide 200 is a 200-mile ultramarathon held in the Canadian Rockies. It is billed as Canada's only 200-mile race. The event starts and finishes at Castle Mountain Resort in Pincher Creek, Alberta.

The Course

The route celebrates Rocky Mountain heritage and highlights portions of the stunning Great Divide Trail. It explores the varied landscape of the Continental Divide in the Castle and Crowsnest region. The course is a combination of single track, double track, a small amount of road, cross-country, and even some bushwhacking and scrambling. The race focuses on alpine travel and ridge walks in remote backcountry.

Participation and Equipment

The race is open to solo competitors only and is capped at 100 entrants. It is intended for people with extensive ultramarathon experience and proficiency in alpine travel. Some route-finding is required despite it being a prescribed course. Competitors are required to carry a Garmin inReach device, provided by the organizers, for safety and route guidance.

Prize Purse

A large prize purse is offered for the top three female and male competitors, with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers receiving $5,000, $2,500, and $1,750 CAD respectively. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
