The event week includes racer check-in on August 10, a race start on August 11, and a final cutoff and awards on August 15. The event is open to solo competitors and is capped at 100 entrants. Organizers provide a Garmin inReach for each competitor for route-find and safety. A prize purse is offered for the top three female and male finishers: CDN$5,000, $2,500, and $1,750 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively.
Course, requirements and fees
The route highlights portions of the Great Divide Trail and travels through the Castle and Crowsnest region of the southern Rockies. The course surface is a mix of single track, double track, some road, cross-country, bushwhacking, and scrambling, with alpine ridge travel and remote backcountry sections. Checkpoints are spaced about every 20 to 40 km. The race requires substantial ultramarathon experience and proficiency in alpine travel; some sections require route-finding even though the course is prescribed.
