Meatballs on the Run 5K
The inaugural Meatballs on the Run 5K takes place in Benld, Illinois, as part of the 72nd Annual Benld Italian-American Days. This running event is sponsored by the Gillespie Cross Country Boosters and marks the first time a competitive run has been integrated into the long-standing community festival.

The course is located at Benld City Park, serving as a morning activity before the festival's traditional food service begins. Participants include competitive runners, casual joggers, and walkers. The registration fee includes an official event t-shirt for all entrants.
Following the event, participants are eligible for a complimentary plate of spaghetti served at the festival later that morning.
