About the race
Meandering Turkey is a running event held in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at Klaus Park between Cape and Jackson. The event is organized by Missouri Running Company and uses local trails and park roads.
The event offers the following distances:
- 5.5 miles main race
- ~1.5 miles Kids Fun Run for ages 12 and under, free
The course is described both as flat, smooth, and paved and also noted to include hilly, rooty single track. Due to limited trail and parking space, the field is limited to 100 participants. There is no race day registration and registration closes on Saturday, November 21 at 11:59 PM CT. All participants receive a Missouri Running performance tech shirt and a pair of socks.
Awards include a $100 MoRunCo gift certificate for overall male and female winners and awards to the top three in each age division. Age divisions are 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 plus; divisions may be split if more than eight entrants register in the same division. Post-race food and beverages are provided. The Kids Fun Run is weather dependent, has no tee or awards, and parents are encouraged to run with their children. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
