Turkey Burnoff 2026
The event is a set of road races held at Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg, MD. The main offerings are a five mile course (one loop) and a ten mile course (two loops), plus a youth run of 2.78 km. Both the 5 mile and 10 mile courses start and finish at the same location and follow paved roads that pass over rolling hills, cross a dam, and run through wooded areas. Course maps are provided for each distance.
Parking at the park is limited. The park gate closes before the event, and participants who arrive after the gate closure must park at the park administration lot and walk or run roughly half a mile to the start/finish area.
MCRRC members may attend as part of the club low-key series with a club bib and chip system. Non-members pay a registration fee; different rates apply for adults and minors. Bib and chip pickup happens on race morning near the start area. The youth run does not use timing chips; parent or guardian registration is required for youth participants prior to the event.
The event is staffed by volunteers. For non-members who cannot attend, registration can be transferred to another MCRRC low-key race; monetary refunds are not provided. Deer are sometimes seen on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
