McDougal Lake Trail Fest
The McDougal Lake Trail Fest is a multi-discipline event held over two days in Hodgenville, Kentucky. The festival features a combination of trail running and mountain bike races centered around the 8-mile trail loop at McDougal Lake. Participants can choose between running disciplines, cycling events, or multi-day combination challenges.
The event offers several distances for trail runners:
- 4 Miles
- 8 Miles
On the second day, the focus shifts to mountain biking with multiple distance options based on loops of the primary trail:
- 4 Miles (Junior race for ages 8-12)
- 8 Miles (One loop)
- 16 Miles (Two loops)
- 32 Miles (Four loops)
There are dedicated divisions for E-bikes in the 16-mile and 32-mile categories. For those seeking a multi-day test, the Double Down options allow participants to compete in a trail run on the first day and a mountain bike race on the second day.
Participants receive a t-shirt, custom medal, and decal. In competitive divisions, awards are presented to the first through third place finishers for both genders. The 32-mile mountain bike event has a four-hour time limit. The junior mountain bike race is recommended for those who can maintain an average speed of 6 mph.
