Mayor's 5K on the 5th Runway - 12th Annual
The Mayor's 5K on the 5th Runway is a USATF certified 5K held at the 5th runway of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on October 10, 2026. The event is limited to the first 2,000 participants and is a qualifier for the AJC Peachtree Road Race. The race includes in-person timed and untimed 5K categories, a Mayor's Heat category with premium amenities, a wheelchair and push-assist category, and a virtual 5K option whose finish items are mailed to participants.
All participants receive a commemorative T-shirt and medal. Many in-person categories also receive a swag bag and grab-and-go snacks. Awards are presented to overall male and female finishers and to top finishers by age group; awards are based on net time and only timed runners qualify. Participants must be at least 10 years old; minors 10 to 17 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Because the course is on active airport property, participants will be vetted by airport and federal security agencies and must show a government issued photo ID that matches their registration at race number pickup. Only registered participants are allowed on airport property; spectators are not permitted. Security and safety rules include restrictions on bags, outside water, strollers, pets other than service animals, and prohibited items. Parking and shuttle service are provided from the Georgia International Convention Center parking area.
