Unique Abilities 5K Run Walk
The Unique Abilities 5K is a community run and walk hosted by Preston's Path Foundation at Cooper's Beach in Southampton, NY. The course covers 3.1 miles and both starts and finishes at Cooper's Beach. The route follows Meadow Lane, First Neck Lane, Great Plains Road, Captains Neck Lane, Boyeson Road and Halsey Neck Lane before returning to Meadow Lane.
The event is held in May and emphasizes Autism Acceptance and inclusion. Organizers say the event brings local and extended communities together to support acceptance and to build a more inclusive community for Autistic individuals and their families. Organizers plan to partner with an established nonprofit so that a portion of proceeds can support existing autism programs and services.
On-course amenities include water stations, a food and refreshment table, music, live results by text and email, free finish line photos and same-day finish line video. The first 50 registrants will receive a t-shirt with size not guaranteed. Personalized bibs are available for participants who register three weeks in advance. Awards are given to the top three men and top three women overall. A kids fun run is part of the event program.
No dogs or bikes are allowed on the race course. Participants using strollers are asked to start at the back of the field. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
