Maui Oceanfront Marathon
The Maui Oceanfront Marathon is a nonprofit community event that benefits local school teams, clubs, and other Maui nonprofit groups involved in staging the race. The event includes multiple race distances held on the island of Maui.
The full marathon course starts in the Shops at Wailea parking area on Wailea Iki Road, loops around the Shops and the Marriott driveway, heads south for about one mile and returns past the Fairmont Hotel. The route continues onto South Kihei Road through oceanfront Kihei Town, turns left onto Highway 30 near the 13-mile mark above Maalaea Bay, and proceeds along the oceanfront to outside Launiupoko Beach Park. The entire course is on asphalt and the road shoulder bike path, generally between 4' and 8' wide, with scenic pullouts and public beaches for spectators.
The course was measured and certified in December 2023. Certification numbers include USA-2019-079 and USA-2019-080 for AIMS; USATF certification is HI12400DT, valid until Dec 31, 2034. The certified course can qualify runners for the Boston Marathon.
HydraPak Speedcups are distributed at the starting line so runners can carry and reuse the same souvenir cup during the race to reduce disposable cup use.
