Maui Marathon
The Maui Marathon is an established long-distance running event held on the island of Maui. Now in its 56th year, it is recognized as the longest-running marathon on the island. The event is organized by the Valley Isle Road Runners and returns to West Maui, with central activities based around Ka-anapali.
The event offers several race distances to accommodate different participation levels:
- Full Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10k Run
- 5k Run
- Virtual Runs
The marathon and half marathon distances are subject to registration caps to ensure participant safety due to high demand. For those attending race weekend, a Health and Fitness Expo takes place on the Friday and Saturday preceding the Sunday races. This expo is held at the Valley Isle Ballroom within The Westin Maui Resort and Spa.
A notable feature of this event is its commitment to environmental sustainability through a cupless policy. To reduce waste and prevent single-use items from entering local landfills or the natural environment, the organizers do not provide paper or wax cups at aid stations. Instead, participants use collapsible, reusable cups, such as the HydraPak SpeedCup, during the race. Shuttle services and parking options are organized for race day to assist with logistics.
