Firecracker 5k and Mile - Vernal, UT
The Firecracker 5k and Mile is scheduled for July 4, 2026, as part of the Dinosaurland Freedom Fest celebrating 250 years of America. The event begins with the singing of the National Anthem and concludes near the Field of Flags. Participants are encouraged to wear red, white and blue or other patriotic attire.
Two race distances are offered:
- 5K
- 1 mile for ages 12 and under
The 5K course starts at UBTECH and finishes at Ashley Community Park. Shuttle buses will transport runners from the park to UBTECH before the 5K; there is no shuttle service after the race. Packet, shirt and bib pickup are available at the Uintah Recreation Center on July 3 and at event-area locations on July 4, including UBTECH parking lot and Ashley Community Park.
All finishers receive custom medals, a race shirt and a swag bag. The first 250 registered participants will receive a limited edition America 250 pin. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in the men's and women's divisions and to the top three in the 1-mile race: 5K prizes are $250, $150 and $50 for first through third; mile prizes are $75, $50 and $25 for first through third. Professional timing is provided and results will be posted online.
