Marquette Marathon
The Marquette Marathon is a race weekend set for September 5, 2026, during Labor Day Weekend. The event program includes multiple race distances and race weekend services such as a race expo and organized bus schedule.
The point to point course begins in Ishpeming and follows historic railroad corridors along the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. Runners move through wooded sections where the surface alternates between asphalt and crushed limestone before entering urban Marquette. Much of the second half of the course runs alongside the shore of Lake Superior, and a lakeshore loop appears in the closing miles before the finish beside the Superior Dome on the Northern Michigan University campus. The course has a reported score of 100.92, placing it among the faster marathon courses referenced for the United States and the fastest in Michigan by that metric.
Participation numbers from 2025 are provided as an indicator of recent field size: over 1,200 total participants, including 460 marathon runners, 596 half marathon runners, 15 three-person relay teams, and 105 participants in the Wildcat 5K.
