Marquette Marathon
The Marquette Marathon weekend is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026, falling on Labor Day weekend in the Marquette area. The event includes several race options and supporting weekend activities.

The point to point marathon course begins in Ishpeming and follows historic railroad corridors along the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. The route moves through wooded sections, switching between asphalt and crushed limestone, then enters urban Marquette and runs along the shore of Lake Superior for much of the second half. A lakeshore loop appears in the closing miles before the finish beside the Superior Dome on the campus of Northern Michigan University, noted as the world’s largest wooden dome.
The course has a score of 100.92 and is described as the fastest marathon course in Michigan; it is ranked 31st fastest in the United States. The 2025 race weekend recorded over 1,200 participants, including about 460 marathon runners, 596 half marathon runners, 15 three person relay teams, and 105 Wildcat 5K participants.
