Event details

The Marquette Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026, on Labor Day weekend. Registration opens January 1, 2026. The event includes a race expo and a bus schedule for participants. The finish area is beside the Superior Dome on the campus of Northern Michigan University.

Course

The event uses a point-to-point course that starts in Ishpeming and follows historic railroad corridors along the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. The route passes through wooded sections that change between asphalt and crushed limestone, then enters urban Marquette and follows the shore of Lake Superior for much of the second half. A lakeshore loop appears in the closing miles before the finish.

The 2025 race weekend had over 1,200 participants: 460 marathon finishers, 596 half marathon finishers, 15 teams of three in the marathon relay, and 105 in the Wildcat 5K.
