Marquette Marathon : event overview
The Marquette Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026, on Labor Day weekend. The event program includes multiple race options and reported more than 1,200 participants on the 2025 race weekend: 460 marathon runners, 596 half marathon runners, 15 teams in the marathon relay, and 105 participants in the Wildcat 5K.

The course is point-to-point and begins in Ishpeming. It follows historic railroad corridors along the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. The route moves through wooded sections and alternates between asphalt and crushed limestone surfaces before entering urban Marquette. Much of the second half runs alongside the shore of Lake Superior, and a lakeshore loop appears in the closing miles. The finish is beside the Superior Dome on the campus of Northern Michigan University.
The course has a reported course score of 100.92 and is described as the fastest marathon course in Michigan and ranked 31st fastest in the United States. Registration opens January 1, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
