Marquette Marathon
The Marquette Marathon is scheduled for September 5, 2026, on Labor Day weekend. The main course is a point-to-point route that begins in Ishpeming and follows historic railroad corridors along the Iron Ore Heritage Trail before entering Marquette.
The route moves through wooded sections and alternates between asphalt and crushed limestone surfaces. For much of the second half the course runs close to the shore of Lake Superior. A lakeshore loop in the closing miles precedes the finish area beside the Superior Dome on the campus of Northern Michigan University.
A published course score of 100.92 is provided for the marathon course; the event is listed as the fastest marathon in Michigan and among the faster marathon courses in the United States. The 2025 race weekend recorded over 1,200 participants with specific counts of about 460 marathon finishers, 596 half marathon finishers, 15 three-person relay teams, and 105 entrants in the Wildcat 5K.
