Mardi Gras 5K - Marquette
The inaugural Mardi Gras 5K takes place on January 30, 2027 in Marquette, Michigan at 260 S Lakeshore Blvd. The event is a winter fun run and fundraiser; 100% of event profits will be donated to Camp New Day U.P., an organization that runs a free one week summer camp for youth ages 9 to 14 in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula who have been impacted by the incarceration of a parent or close family member.
The distance is 3.1 Miles and the course runs out and back along the Marquette Bike Path, with the starting line located in front of the Ore Dock structure on Lakeshore Boulevard. This is a fun run fundraiser and is not a chip timed event.
Online registration opens July 3, 2026 and closes January 29, 2027. The registration fee is $30.00. Registration includes a custom event T-shirt, a commemorative finisher's medal, a race bib, hot jambalaya from Lagniappe Cajun Creole Eatery at the finish, fresh coffee from Dead River Coffee, and entry to an evening after party at Ore Dock Brewing Co. Register by December 31, 2026 to guarantee preferred shirt size. Packet pickup is available Friday, January 29 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Saturday, January 30 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Queen City Running Company.
Costumes are encouraged, with prizes planned for the first male and first female finishers and for favorite Mardi Gras costumes. An indoor costume contest will be held at Ore Dock Brewing Co during the evening celebration featuring live music. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
