23rd Annual Mariners Bethel Trail Run
The Mariners Bethel Trail Run is a community tradition held at Camp Barnes in Frankford, Delaware. The event features a flat course that begins and ends on the camp grounds, winding through the trails and roads of the Assawoman Wildlife Refuge.
Participants can choose from several distances and event types:
- 6.2 Mile Trail Run
- 3.1 Mile Trail Run
- 1, 2, or 3 Mile Family Walks
- Kiddie Color Run (for ages 12 and under)
The Kiddie Color Run takes place as the opening event of the day. All children participating in this run receive a medal upon crossing the finish line. For the trail runs, timing is provided using a chip system. Awards are presented to the top three finishers in various age categories, ranging from under 9 to 70 and over, as well as to overall and masters champions.
The event includes a post-race celebration at a pavilion near the Assawoman Canal. This gathering includes live bluegrass music and a homemade meal featuring items such as soups, tamales, and sandwiches. All proceeds from the race are directed toward supporting local youth and children's ministries. Custom t-shirts are provided to participants, though they are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis for those who register after certain deadlines.
