The Marine Corps Marathon is organized by the Marine Corps and runs on a course that passes through Arlington, VA and the nation’s capital. The event is a full marathon of 26.2 miles and is described as one of the largest marathons in the United States and the world. The marathon is the largest in the world that does not offer prize money and is sometimes called "The People’s Marathon." The main marathon event for 2025 is listed as sold out.

The marathon weekend includes related events such as an expo and a kids run, and the organization runs other races across the year including a Turkey Trot (10K and 1 mile), a Marine Corps 17.75K, a Semper Fred 5K, a Historic Half, and a Quantico 12K. Several charity and team programs operate within the event: Girls on the Run offers a SoleMate charity bib program with a fundraising commitment tied to guaranteed bibs; the Semper Fi & America’s Fund team offers guaranteed entries after specific fundraising thresholds ($700 for a registration link, $1,000 for a complimentary registration) and a fundraiser-only option with a $300 requirement.
