Margarita 5K at Plaza Antigua, Waynesboro
The Margarita 5K is a neighborhood road race held in Waynesboro, Virginia, with packet pickup and a post-race gathering at Plaza Antigua. The 5 kilometer course runs on pavement through an adjacent neighborhood. Walkers are welcome and dogs on leash are permitted on the course and in the outdoor seating area.
Event entries include a performance event shirt, a commemorative finisher glass, and a finisher margarita for participants over 21. A beverage ticket attached to the race bib is used to pick up the glass and drink, and participants must present valid ID to receive alcoholic beverages. Timing is chip based and provided by Blue Ridge Timing Co.
The event features an outdoor post-race party and awards ceremony with music and food available for purchase from Plaza Antigua. Awards are presented to the overall male and female finishers and to first place finishers in the listed age groups: under 21 groups 8-11, 12-15, 16-20; over 21 groups 21-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 plus. A portion of race proceeds benefits the Housing Emergency Relief Organization of Waynesboro.
Teams may be formed for the race, and a referral program offers a $10 refund when four friends register using a participant referral link.
