Mantario Marathon
The Mantario Marathon is a self supported two day trail event scheduled for September 26 and 27, 2026 in Whiteshell, MB. The total distance is 64 km, split into two stages of about 32 km, with an overnight camp at Moosehead Lake.
Day one starts at the Caddy Lake South Mantario Trailhead and finishes at the Moosehead campsite. Day two follows the trail in reverse and finishes at the Big Whiteshell North Mantario Trailhead. All participants must carry everything needed for the two day event, including overnight gear, food, water treatment, clothing, shelter, navigation and first aid.
The route follows the Mantario Trail through boreal forest and the Canadian Shield. The trail includes numerous water crossings, often wet and slippery sections, and more than 1500 metres of elevation loss and gain. There are no event markings or aid stations; route finding is required. Participants should bring the Mantario Trail map, a compass and a GPX file for navigation.
This is a Fat Ass event with no entry fee, no official support, and no organizers providing services. Rules require self sufficiency, assisting others encountered who may need help, packing out all waste, and no burning of garbage. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
