Frozen Falcon - Overview

Frozen Falcon is a winter, 8-hour looped trail running event held at Falcon Ridge Ski Slopes on the grounds of Falcon Trails Resort. The route follows the High Lake Multi-Use Trail with a loop of about 6.5 km (roughly 4 miles). The event challenges participants to cover as much distance as they can in the 8-hour period. Completing eight loops (just over 50k) earns the Frozen Falcon 50k finisher toque; repeat 50k finishes earn a snowflake patch. Participants who reach 40 cumulative loops receive special recognition. The race is scheduled for Sunday, January 11, 2026. The event cap is 60 participants and registration is sold out.

Course, logistics and rules

Timing is manual and there is no live tracking; runners must enter the Yurt at the end of each loop so laps can be recorded and must notify timing staff when they stop racing. The Yurt serves as the aid station and check-in area. Aid offerings include chips, candy, instant noodle soup (ramen), vegetable broth and water (participants should bring a cup if needed). The Yurt will be shared with the public; limited space for personal gear is available and additional gear may be kept in a vehicle. Snowshoes are allowed. First aid support with an AED will be on site. Recommended gear includes a 500 ml insulated beverage container, extra toque, extra windproof jacket and an emergency blanket. The organizer’s refund policy states there are no refunds or deferrals if the event is cancelled for reasons beyond the organizer’s control; bib transfers are permitted until December 14. Awards include a 50k finisher award and 1st place male and female recognitions based on furthest distance (tie broken by faster time).
