Manor Water Hill Race 2026
The Manor Water Hill Race is a hill running event held as part of the Manor Sheepdog Trial. The course measures 10.5 miles (17 km) with about 2450 ft (745 m) of ascent and uses the same registration field and route as in 2025.
The race starts and finishes in the registration field at NT 212395. The outward route exits the field at the south western corner (NT 210390), crosses a minor road into NT 209390, then crests between Hunt Hill and Skye Hill before descending towards the Glack. Mandatory checkpoint crossings are a gap or temporary stile in a stone wall at NT 205378, a gate in the drystone dyke near the top of Glack Hope, and a summit checkpoint on Scrape hill (NT 176325 at 2348 ft). Runners must report their race number to the marshal at the Scrape summit before returning by the same route; the race finishes at the starting point.
Route marking may be placed at intervals but self-navigation is required. A bad-weather alternative uses an earlier turning point at NT 181332; any changes will be explained before the start and a marshal will be stationed at the return location if applicable. Runners retiring between Dead Wife’s Grave and Scrape should report to the marshal vehicle at Dead Wife’s Grave.
Minimum age is 18. Entry fee is £7 in advance and £10 on the day (cash only). Competitors must carry full kit regardless of weather, including a waterproof jacket with taped seams and hood, waterproof overtrousers, hat, gloves, map, compass, and whistle. The event follows Carnethy-organised race procedures and Scottish Hill Runners safety rules. Refreshments and raffle tickets will be available for cash.
