Manhattan Beach 10K Run : event overview
The Manhattan Beach 10K is a community road race founded in 1978 by a group of local runners who wanted a race in town. The event in 2026 is presented as the 49th Annual edition and is contested over a 10 km course that runs through downtown and residential Manhattan Beach, finishing at the Manhattan Beach Pier.
The course is described as moderate to slightly difficult. The event typically draws over 4,000 runners and includes live music and a post-race expo at the finish area. The race is designated as an RRCA California 10K State Championship; championship awards are given in Open, 40+, 50+, and 60+ categories.
Aid stations receive beverage support from Gatorade. Prize money includes $250 awarded to both the male and female overall winners.
Proceeds from the race are returned to the local community. Cumulative donations have surpassed $825,000 and have supported projects such as the Mira Costa track refurbishing, an exercise facility at Manhattan Beach Middle School, a climbing wall at Manhattan Heights Park, the Strand par course and mile markers, a play structure at Polliwog Park, and artificial turf at an AYSO field. Local school and community groups also provide volunteers for traffic control, water stations, start and finish support, and race logistics.
