Manhattan Beach 10K Run
The Manhattan Beach 10K is an annual community race that first took place in 1978. Founded by local runners, the event is organized as a non-profit effort where all proceeds are returned to the local community. These funds support various health and fitness enhancements for schools and parks, as well as scholarships for high school seniors.
The event features a single distance:
- 10 km
The course leads participants through downtown and residential areas of Manhattan Beach, providing a scenic route through the South Bay. The run concludes at the Manhattan Beach Pier. The terrain is described as moderate to slightly difficult. Along the route, participants can find aid stations provided by Gatorade and enjoy live music. A post-race expo is held at the finish line featuring various supporters and vendors.
The event is designated as a Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) California 10K State Championship. Because of this status, RRCA Championship Awards are presented to top performers in the Open, 40+, 50+, and 60+ age categories. Additionally, cash prizes of $250 are awarded to the overall male and female winners. The race typically hosts over 4,000 participants.
