Gulf Coast Series Overview

The Mainly Marathons Gulf Coast Series is a multi-day running event held across four different states in March. Participants have the opportunity to complete races on consecutive days in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida. The series is designed with a no-time-limit policy to accommodate all paces, and walkers are welcome.

Course Information

The event utilizes a multi-loop course format at each location. The specific surfaces and settings vary by day:

  • 50 km
  • Marathon
  • Half Marathon
  • 10 km
  • 5 km

The sequence of locations begins in Beaumont, Texas, at the Quinn Indoor Soccer Complex on a paved running path. The second day moves to Jennings, Louisiana, at Oil and Gas Park, featuring a narrow asphalt path. The third day takes place in Gulfport, Mississippi, on a wide concrete path near the beach. The final day is held in Pensacola, Florida, at Big Lagoon State Park on an asphalt road with minimal shade.

Participant Amenities and Awards

A central aid station is provided at each race, featuring a wide selection of food and beverages including fruit, sandwiches, coffee, and sports drinks. The event also features a mobile kitchen called the Loony Lunchbox.

Every participant receives a shirt and a series of medals for each race completed, including a "State Medal" specific to the location. These medals are designed to connect together. Runners completing their first full or half marathon receive a special award, and a unique "caboose medal" is presented to the final finisher of the marathon and half marathon distances. Those who finish all four days of the series earn a bonus finisher medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
