Maine Needs - A Community Walk & Race
Maine Needs - A Community Walk & Race is scheduled for 05/23/2026 at Payson Park and Back Cove, 755 Baxter Blvd., Portland, ME. The event is presented by Maine Beer Company and is described as a community and family friendly morning of activity that includes local non-profits and sponsors on site, face painting for children, a DJ, merchandise for sale, coffee and snacks.
Event formats and distances include:
- 5K run, timed
- 3.5 mile run, timed
- 3.5 mile walk, untimed and family friendly
- Virtual run or walk, untimed; virtual participants do not receive the custom Maine Needs socks
Awards and competition details are specified for both race distances. For the 5K, awards go to the top five male, female and non-binary finishers who complete the 5K portion in under 21 minutes. For the 3.5 mile run, awards include top male, female and non-binary finishers plus top finishers in the following age groups: 10–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69 and 70–79.
Certain registration options require fundraising. When a $200 fundraising minimum is reached the event fee is refunded. Team fundraising is available and can be set up during registration.
Proceeds support Maine Needs' distribution of essential material goods across Maine. The organization reports receiving more than 1,000 weekly requests for basics and works with over 6,000 volunteers supporting 523 providers from 265 organizations.
