Mackay Twilight Duathlon Series
The Mackay Twilight Duathlon Series comprises three duathlon races held at Bluewater Quay, Mackay, along the Pioneer River and Forgan Bridge. The three race dates in 2027 are 19 June, 27 November, and 11 December. Athletes compete in Run / Bike / Run duathlon categories across multiple divisions: Enticer, Sprint, and Mini Kids.
Distances for each category:
- Enticer: 1 km Run, 8 km Bike, 2.5 km Run
- Sprint: 2.5 km Run, 16 km Bike, 5 km Run
- Mini Kids: From 500 m Run, 3 km Bike, 500 m Run
Races form a series with a special series finisher medal awarded to athletes who complete all three events. There are solo and team options in the Enticer and Sprint categories, and a Mini Kids category for ages 5 to 11.
Post-race activities are held at Red Dog Brewery with drinks and nibbles available and options for dinner. Organised training and support are provided in the lead-up to the series, including Sunday club training sessions at Eimeo Beach and weekly swim, bike and run squad training open free to club members. Membership to the Mackay Triathlon Club is available with a stated starting cost of $3.30 per week and lower rates for under 20s. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
