Machete Muertos 200 is part of a multi‑day trail running event at Lake Perris. The event includes multiple distances and a separate ruck division held on looped courses that return to a group campground and transition area.

Course and elevation details note a 10 mile loop with about 2,300 feet of elevation gain per lap used by the 10 and 50 mile races, and a 20 mile loop with about 4,500 feet of elevation gain used by the 20 mile ruck division, 100 and 200 mile races. The 200 mile distance is described as having over 44,000 feet of elevation gain and technical terrain with steep climbs and descents.
Cutoff times are 96 hours for the 200 mile, 48 hours for the 100 mile, 24 hours for the 50 mile, 12 hours for the 20 mile ruck division, and no cutoff for the 10 mile. Pacer policies allow no pacers for the 10 mile or ruck division; pacers are permitted on the final lap of the 50 mile and after specific lap thresholds for the 100 and 200 mile distances. The ruck division specifies weights of 20 pounds for females and 30 pounds for men.
Aid stations include a full aid station at mile 6 for 10 and 50 mile runners and aid stations at miles 8 and 13 for the 20, 100, and 200 mile courses. Group tent camping is available on site; trailers and hookups are not permitted. The event offers cash prizes for overall podium finishers in the 100 and 200 mile races.
