Event Overview
The Macedonia Trail Race takes place at Macedonia Brook State Park near Kent, Connecticut. It is about 90 minutes north of New York City. The event is held on singletrack and forest trails and includes climbs, descents, and two viewpoints on course.
Distances
The race offers three distances:
- 50K
- 25K (This distance is part of the Blue Blazed Trail Running Series in Connecticut, which uses trails maintained by the Connecticut Forest & Park Association.)
- 12K
Hikers and walkers are welcome in the 12K event.
The Course
The race starts on Macedonia Brook Road near a pavilion. The first section is on the road before entering the blue-blazed singletrack trail. The course is run counter-clockwise. It includes a grinding climb, a major descent after approximately two miles, rolling terrain with technical sections, and a challenging ascent of Cobble Mountain. Cobble Mountain offers a viewpoint to the west. The 12K course finishes with a sprint on grass near the pavilion. The 25K consists of two loops of the 12K course with a small out-and-back at the start, featuring over 3500 feet of elevation gain. The 50K is a three-loop course using additional park trails, including three ascents of Cobble Mountain, with over 7000 feet of total elevation gain.
Post-Race & Awards
A post-race celebration includes food such as bagels, bananas, and pizza. There are finisher medals and awards for the top three overall male and female finishers in each distance.
Registration
Entry fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another person. Registration closes the day before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
