Lyke Wake Walk east to west guided and supported crossing
This is a guided and supported crossing of the North York Moors National Park on Saturday 4 July 2026. The route runs between Scarth Wood Moor, Osmotherley and Ravenscar on the North Sea coast and covers just under 39 miles. The original challenge is to walk from one marker to the opposite marker within a maximum of 24 hours.
Crossings are run by experienced guides based in North Yorkshire. Open group crossings have a maximum of 14 walkers, typically 10 to 12. For larger groups there is more than one guide. All guides hold appropriate qualifications, first aid training and insurance. Private group bookings are available.
Participants are placed in a WhatsApp group for each date where training tips are shared. Guides provide a full kit list and a training schedule and run free training walks that are listed on a Facebook group. On the day of the crossing the organisers supply water, unlimited sugar based snacks and blister plasters and provide a small complimentary gift at the end.
Entries for the series opened on 4 August 2025 and close on 2 July 2026. All dates are £110 per person with a £50 non refundable deposit to secure a place; the remaining balance is due six weeks before the walk. This event is currently full and new entries are placed on a waiting list; a waiting list entry requires no payment until a place is offered.
