Event Overview
The LVRR September Summer Series 5K is the final installment of a five-part race series held in Allentown, Pennsylvania. This free event takes place on the first Wednesday of September at the Lehigh Parkway. Registration is open to the general public, and participants do not need to be members of the LVRR club to join.
Course Information
The 5 km course consists of an accurately measured cinder trail within the park. The terrain is described as mostly flat. Due to infrastructure repairs at Bogarts Bridge, a modified route is currently in use. The event has a total time limit of 60 minutes, which corresponds to a pace of approximately 19:35 minutes per mile.
Prediction Run Format
This specific event features a prediction run format where participants are not permitted to use watches. A clock is set to 60 minutes and counts down to zero. Runners start their race at the time they estimate it will take them to complete the distance. The objective of this format is for all participants to cross the finish line simultaneously if their predicted times are accurate.
Facilities and Participation
All participants must check in with volunteers prior to the start of the race. The event is open to runners between the ages of 10 and 100. Following the run, the organizing club provides water, hotdogs, and chips for participants. The race headquarters is located at the LVRR clubhouse, a white building at the end of the parkway road. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
