Lehigh Valley New Year's Chaser: Half Marathon, 10K & 5K
The event takes place on January 1, 2027 at the Ironton Rail Trail in Coplay, Pennsylvania. It offers multiple race options:
- Half marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- Combo 5K and 10K
All events start and finish at the same point next to the Cement Kilns. The half marathon is two loops of a 5.25 mile generally flat course on asphalt. Each loop becomes 6.55 miles with an out-and-back spur; the 10K uses the same loop with a shorter spur for a single 6.2 mile loop. The course surface is described as immaculate asphalt without potholes. Course elevations range from 365 to 389 feet with about 184 feet of elevation gain per 6.55 mile loop; one section gains 30 feet in 0.3 miles.
Aid stations offering water and Gatorade are placed about every two miles. Bib pickup is handled by event staff before the start. Results are available live online, by text and by email, and finish line photos are provided the same day.
All registrants receive a t-shirt, finisher medal and a pair of running ankle socks. First time half marathon and combo finishers receive a plaque. Awards are given to the top overall finisher in male, female and X categories and to the top three in each age group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
