LVHS Pioneer Firecracker 5K Fun Run/Walk
The LVHS Pioneer Firecracker 5K Fun Run/Walk takes place on July 4 at the Shadow Mist Trailhead, 6441 Shadow Mist Road in Leon Valley, TX. The course follows neighborhood streets and sections of the Huebner Creek Hike and Bike trail and is described as a new route for this edition.
The event is presented as family friendly with a patriotic theme. Participants are encouraged to wear red, white and blue and prizes are awarded for best dressed. The route is stroller friendly and allows dogs. Parking is available onsite.
Entry fees vary by registration date with reduced early rates and higher fees closer to the event. Special pricing applies for children 12 and under, including a low fee with chip timing and a free option with a paid adult that includes a finisher medal but not chip timing or a shirt. Registrations completed by June 22 are guaranteed a t shirt and finisher medal; later registrations may not receive those items.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers overall and to the top three in multiple age categories from 10 and under through 80 and over. There is no advance packet pickup scheduled for this year. Proceeds benefit the Leon Valley Historical Society for restoration of the Huebner Onions Homestead and Stagecoach Stop.
