LVHS Pioneer Firecracker 5K Fun Run/Walk
The LVHS Pioneer Firecracker 5K Fun Run/Walk is held on Friday, July 4 at Shadow Mist Trailhead, 6441 Shadow Mist Road, Leon Valley, TX 78238. The course runs through neighborhood streets and along the Huebner Creek Hike and Bike and is described as a new route. Parking is available onsite.
The event features a 5K run and fun walk and includes a children category for ages 12 and under. The route is stroller friendly and dog friendly. Participants are encouraged to wear red, white and blue; prizes are awarded for the best dressed.
Entry fees vary by registration date: Early Bird through June 13 is $30, Regular June 14 - July 1 is $35, and Last Chance July 2 - Race Day is $40. Children 12 and under are $10 with chip timing which includes a t-shirt and finisher medal, or free with a paid adult with no chip and no shirt but includes a finisher medal. Registrations completed by June 22 are guaranteed a t-shirt and finisher medal; later registrants receive items as available.
Awards are given to the overall top three male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in age groups 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 plus. No advance packet pickup is offered. Proceeds benefit the Leon Valley Historical Society to support restoration of the Huebner-Onion Homestead and Stagecoach Stop.
