LVHS Pioneer Firecracker 5K Fun Run/Walk
The LVHS Pioneer Firecracker is a community 5K fun run and walk held on July 4, 2026, at Shadow Mist Trailhead, 6441 Shadow Mist Road, Leon Valley, TX 78238. The event marks Independence Day and acknowledges the early settlers of Leon Valley with a morning route that passes neighborhood streets and follows the Huebner Creek Hike and Bike.
The route is stroller-friendly and dog-friendly. Parking is available onsite. Participants are encouraged to wear red, white and blue for the USA's 250th anniversary; prizes are offered for best dressed.
Entry fees vary by registration window: early bird through June 14 is $30, regular June 15 through July 1 is $35, and last chance July 2 through race day is $40. Children 12 and under are $10 with chip timing, which includes a t-shirt and finisher medal, or free with a paid adult (no chip, no shirt, includes finisher medal). Registrations completed by June 22 are guaranteed a t-shirt and finisher medal; later registrations have no guarantee of shirt availability.
Awards recognize the top three male and female finishers overall and the top three male and female finishers in multiple age groups. There is no advance packet pickup; packets are distributed on race day.
Proceeds benefit the Leon Valley Historical Society for restoration of the Huebner-Onion Homestead and Stagecoach Stop on Bandera Road. The City of Leon Valley is acknowledged for its support. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
