Event overview
The Lucky Dog 5K - Schaumburg is a chip-timed 5k run/walk held in Rolling Meadows, IL on Saturday, March 14, 2026. The event is open to ages 3 and up. Timing and scoring are provided by J3 Timing and results will be posted at J3Timing.com. Registration includes a short sleeve T-shirt, a finisher medal, a dog medal (one per registration), a race bib with chip timing, live race results, and finish line treats for humans and dogs. Dogs may participate on the course without separate registration; additional dog medals can be purchased during registration.
Course and logistics
The course is a paved out-and-back on the Busse Woods Trail at Busse Woods Grove 28. The route is generally flat and open to bikers and pedestrians, so runners are asked to keep to the right. Participants are asked to bring doggie bags and to pick up after their dogs.
Packet pickup is available Friday, March 13, 2026 at Extramile Running, 31 West Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg, Illinois (12:00 PM to 6:00 PM). Race day packet pickup will begin one hour before the event. Parking at Busse Woods Grove 28 is limited; an alternate lot is the Atrium Event Center at 3800 Golf Rd, Rolling Meadows.
Awards and charity
Awards are given to overall male and female finishers and to the top three in age groups: 9 and under; 10-14; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70-79; and 80 and over. The race benefits Animal House Shelter, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) no-kill shelter for dogs and cats. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
