Event Overview

The Louisville Marathon features a selection of road and trail races held in Louisville, Kentucky. Participants can choose between three distinct distances: a full marathon, a half marathon, and a 10 km run. The event takes place at the Parklands of Floyds Fork, with the course utilizing paved trails and finishing at the Egg Lawn.

Both the marathon and half marathon courses are USATF-certified. The marathon serves as a Boston Marathon qualifier. To assist participants in reaching their performance targets, the event provides pacers for both the marathon and half marathon distances. The finish line area accommodates runners with gear check services and shuttle buses connecting to off-site parking.

Course Features and Distances

All three routes are conducted entirely on paved roads or trails within the park system.

  • Marathon (42.195 km): A USATF-certified Boston qualifier with a course time limit of 6 hours and 30 minutes.
  • Half Marathon (21.1 km): A USATF-certified course with a time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes.
  • 10 km: A shorter distance option with a time limit of 1 hour and 50 minutes.

Participant Information

Registered runners receive commemorative event gear, which includes a choice between a ring-spun cotton t-shirt or a hoodie. Every finisher is awarded a distance-specific medal. Awards are also presented to the top three male and female participants in various age categories, ranging from 10 and under to 70 and over.

The event includes amenities such as water stations providing water and sports drinks, and a post-race celebration offering beer for participants aged 21 and over. A live tracking app is available for spectators to monitor participant progress. The race is chip-timed, ensuring accurate individual results from the start to the finish line.
