Looping around Leusdon
Looping around Leusdon is an LDWA members only event based at Leusdon Memorial Hall. Entrants may complete distances of 10 miles, 20 miles or 31 miles by following three loops of approximately 10 miles each in a specified order. All routes start and finish at the hall and loops must be completed in the given sequence.
Distances
- 10 miles
- 20 miles
- 31 miles
The routes cross open moor, woodlands, bridleways, footpaths, fields with livestock, river walks and lanes. Notable sights include the Ten Commandments stone, Hembury Castle Fort and woods, and a number of Dartmoor tors including Sharp Tor, which is described as a current filming location.
Numbers are strictly limited because of bird nesting and lambing, calving and foaling seasons, and a waiting list may operate. A marshals event will take place on 28 March 2026; further information is available from the event organiser.
Entrants must be able to read a map, follow compass bearings and carry sufficient equipment and navigational skills for variable conditions. Participants must follow the Dartmoor Ranger Code and the Countryside Code. All routes are covered by OS Explorer OL28. GPX files and route descriptions will be provided to entrants before the event. Dogs are not permitted except registered disability assistance dogs. Certificates are issued to those who complete the walk. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
