Longhorn Run

The Longhorn Run is a campus tradition at the University of Texas at Austin, established in 2010. This student-led event is organized by UT RecSports and the Longhorn Run Committee. It takes place annually during the spring on the Forty Acres and is open to students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the general public.

Participants can choose between two course distances:

  • 5 km
  • 10 km

The event serves as a fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting the Student Government and the RecSports Excellence Funds. Registration typically includes various pricing Tiers, such as early bird and standard rates, which cover mandatory fees and race items.

In addition to the main race, the Longhorn Run Collective provides a community hub for participants. This program offers group activities to help runners prepare, including speed workouts, group runs, and yoga sessions. These meetups are designed to be inclusive of all fitness levels. The event also relies on a volunteer program where individuals can assist with tasks such as packet pick-up or managing water stations along the course.
