Event Overview
The Longhorn Run is a student-led annual running event held at The University of Texas at Austin, known locally as the Forty Acres. It takes place in the spring and welcomes students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the wider Austin community.
Event Format
The event offers a 5K and a 10K race, as well as a virtual runner option. All participants receive a short-sleeve Nike Dri-FIT race t-shirt and access to a post-race celebration. Registration opens on February 18, 2026, for the event on April 18, 2026.
Registration and Fees
The event has tiered pricing:
- 5K: Fees start at $45.11 for early bird registration.
- 10K: Fees start at $50.48 for early bird registration.
- Virtual Runner: This option allows participants to run on their own schedule during race weekend and submit results online. Fees start at $39.74 for early bird registration. Race shirts can be picked up during a designated week or mailed for an additional fee.
The event has a strict no-refunds policy, but registrations can be transferred to another person.
Philanthropy
