Long Beach Race for Rare 5K Run & Walk
The National MPS Society hosts a timed 5K run and walk in Long Beach to raise money and awareness for people living with rare diseases. Proceeds benefit the National MPS Society. The event includes in-person and virtual participation options and a beachside picnic; lunch is included in registration costs.
The event offers multiple participation formats:
- 5K Run - 5 kilometers
- 5K Walk - 1 mile
- Virtual 5K - 3.1 miles completed remotely
- Picnic only option
Registration fees are stated at $35 for in-person and virtual 5K entries and $10 for the picnic-only option. In-person and virtual runners are eligible for event T-shirts; shirts are guaranteed for registrations completed by August 10th. Awards will be presented following the 5K. The in-person gathering is set at Granada Launch Ramp, 5000 E Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, California.
The event materials note the broader context the organizer addresses: a significant portion of the population is affected by rare disease, few rare conditions have approved treatments, and many children with rare conditions face serious early-life outcomes. Team fundraising pages and sponsorship levels were provided by the organizer as additional ways to support the society’s mission. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
