Event Overview
The London 2 Brighton Ultra Challenge is a trekking and trail running event held on 23-24 May 2026. It is part of the UK-based Ultra Challenge series. The original full route is a continuous 100 km journey from Richmond in West London to Brighton Racecourse, passing over the North Downs and South Downs through Surrey and Sussex countryside. The event expects around 2,000 participants.
Challenge Options
Participants can choose from multiple distance options. These can be completed by walking, jogging, or running, either as an individual or in a team. The main options are:
- Full Continuous 100 km (Richmond to Brighton)
- Full 2 Day 'Daylight' 100 km with an optional camping package at the halfway point
- ~75 km from Sutton to Brighton
- ~58 km from Richmond to Turners Hill (referred to as the first half)
- 42 km from Turners Hill to Brighton (called the Sussex Trail Marathon)
- ~25 km from Richmond to Sutton
- ~33 km from Sutton to Turners Hill
- A 25 km loop starting and finishing at Brighton Racecourse
New for 2026 are the Ultra Trailblazerz® category for faster runners and the Ultra March® option for walkers aiming to complete 100 km in under 24 hours or 50 km in under 12 hours.
Event Support
The event provides several support services. There are rest stops approximately every 12.5 km, offering snacks, meals, and drinks. Medical teams, podiatrists, and massage services are available. The route is marked with signage and participants have access to GPS tracking via a mobile app. Shuttle bus transfers are provided to and from key locations, including train stations. At the finish line, participants receive a medal, a finisher's t-shirt, and a glass of fizz.
Participation
Participants can join by self-funding their place or by fundraising for a charity. Corporate team packages are also available. An event app provides training guides, route maps, and updates.
